On Thursday, February 4, 2016, the Library will start using a new system to checkout materials, OCLC Worldshare Management Services (WMS). WMS is a state-of-the art system developed for the web. It seamlessly merges management and discovery of print and electronic resources.
Our current search interface, Summon, will remain in place until at least May 31, 2016.
While it is not yet fully implemented, WMS’s native search interface (WorldCat Discovery) is available for preview at: https://aus.on.worldcat.org/discovery. When implementation is completed, Worldcat Discovery will offer researchers more specific searching, as well as access to a larger world of scholarship. Faculty and graduate students will be able to more easily place document delivery requests to books and other items held at libraries around the world.
The biggest change you will see on February 4th is that holds and self-service renewals will need to be done in Worldcat Discovery’s My Account interface; simply log in using your AUS credentials. Circulation staff will continue to be available to assist with holds and renewals either in person, by phone at 06 515 2256, or by email at email@example.com.
We anticipate minor glitches as we migrate to the new system and we apologize for any inconvenience you might experience. If you experience any issues, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have and would welcome your feedback
