Every semester, the AUS Library recognizes graduating library student assistants who have worked tirelessly as members of the library’s support team for at least 4 semesters. This semester, we are very pleased to honor graduating MCM student Naila Tariq Iqbal, for her longstanding service of 6 semesters. During her time with us, Naila has worked across all areas of the library, including Technical Services, and the Information Commons. Her role has involved helping out behind the scenes with processing of donations, shipments and special projects, but also helping students trouble-shoot technical issues. As Naila commented, work has not only provided insight into how academic libraries operate, it has also offered important opportunities to interact with others and problem-solve. These are very important skills that will serve Naila well as she embarks on her career.
In recognition of her service, and as part of the AUS Library’s Student Assistant Recognition Program, Naila has selected a book which now contains her name inscribed on a book-plate. The book that Naila has chosen is Something Wicked This Way Comes by American author Ray Bradbury. This is a book about how two boys’ lives are changed forever when a sinister travelling carnival stops at their Illinois town. It’s a book written in an intriguing style, something that appeals to Naila as a student of Journalism.
The AUS Library would like to thank Naila for her outstanding service as a student assistant. We wish you every success in your future career!
