AUS Writing Center Workshop: Rhetorical Appeals, March 9

Students are invited to attend a writing workshop entitled "Rhetorical
Appeals" on Tuesday, March 9 at 1:00pm in LIB 011(ground floor of the
library).
This workshop will focus on identifying and analyzing rhetorical appeals,
including ethos, pathos, and logos.

SafeQ for Photocopying Now Available in the Library

SafeQ, AUS' new photocopy system is now available on library photocopiers. Users add money to their SafeQ account at the Cashier's Office and use their AUS ID card to make copies. Flexicards will still accepted until the end of Spring semester.

Problems Viewing Safari Tech Books Online

There is currently a problem viewing pages of books in Safari Tech Books Online. The library is working to resolve the problem, but in the meantime, on-campus users are asked to use the links inside the library catalog to view books. Off-campus users are asked to use the links from the Databases pages and when inside a book, click the HTML VIEW button to see text.

Irregular Shelving Books Have Moved

General collection Irregular shelving, containing over and under-sized books has moved to the Library's 2nd Floor. Oversized reference books are can still be found with the Reference Collection on the 1st Floor. Other books have changed as well so please be sure to note the "Location" in the catalog.
No-Talking Zones Available For Silent Study

Exam time is coming - if you need a quiet study space try one of the no-talking-zones. You can find them on the 1st floor (Arabic Collection room) and 2nd floor (Periodicals room).

Library Email Notices From the Last Few Days May Not Be Relevant

Due to a technical problem in the library some users have received old notices that may no longer be relevant, such as the item has been returned since the notice was generated. Notices have the date they were generated at the top of the notice. If the appropriate action has been taken since that date, such as returning the item, notices can be disregarded.

Due to campus-wide internet problems, Research Pro is not available at the moment. By setting your browser to use the proxy cache.aus.edu:8080 you will be able to access Research Pro.
For Firefox: Tools > Options > Network > Connection, Settings... > Manual proxy configuration: HTTP Proxy: cache.aus.edu Port: 8080, check Use this proxy for all protocols.
For Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings > Proxy server: check Use a proxy server for your LAN, Address: cache.aus.edu Port: 8080.
New Look For Research Pro

Research Pro, thanks to the recent upgrade, has had a makeover. Changes are cosmetic and include a new color scheme, font sizes, and different tabs. Searching in Research Pro remains as it was prior to the upgrade.

Library Information Commons will be holding classes on August 19, 20, 23, 24 from 10-10:30am to introduce computing resources available in the library. Topics to be covered include scanning, printing, network and email, MS Office 2007, and how to get help. Classes will be held in IC2.

New and returning students and parents are invited to take a tour of the AUS Library to get acquainted with the collection, spaces and services available. Tours begin on the hour and half-hour between 10:30-11:30am and 2:30-3:30pm, leaving from the tour sign on the Ground Floor near the Circulation Desk.
