Library Liaison Program

The Library Liaison Program is part of an ongoing effort to increase communication between the schools and the Library to enhance the Library's ability to meet the needs of students and faculty.

The liaison program is intended to provide a programmatic link between the Library and the academic programs by establishing an ongoing partnership with faculty. By working closely with academic units, we hope to increase the Library’s effectiveness in supporting curricular needs and program goals.

Librarians work with the faculty to help students gain fundamental library and research skills. As required by Middle States Accreditation, the Library has a mandate to ensure that students gain these skills. To this end, AUS librarians encourage faculty to:

  1. bring classes to the library for hands-on instruction sessions in the Library’s electronic classroom,
  2. invite a librarian to come to your classroom to show students core library resources and search strategies.

In addition to formal instruction sessions, we develop web-based tools accessible on our web site to provide students with point-of-need assistance, self-paced tutorials and subject guides.

Suggesting Material

Faculty can suggest books or media items for the library by either contacting their Liaison librarian directly or filling out the Suggest-A-Book form on the AUS Library website.

Faculty wishing to request a journal title are asked to fill the Journal Request Form and submit it to their Library Liaison.

The AUS Library Collection Development Policy can be accessed for further information regarding collection building and acquisition policies.
