Laptops

The library supplies 15 IBM Thinkpads for student use within the library. Laptops are checked out at the main circulation desk for 3 hours, renewable on availability.

Software

All laptops are loaded with the standard software package (excluding graphic intensive programs) available on all library computers.

Deep Freeze Software

To protect library users Deep Freeze software is installed on all library computers. To erase changes a previous user makes to a workstation, it is suggested that users simply restart library pc's before using to reset the computer to its original state. Users are then always assured of computers that are consistently operable and available.

Note: Computers left unattended for 30 minutes will automatically shut down.

Personal Laptops

Students may use their personal laptops anywhere within the library. Wireless internet/network access is available in all areas. As well, the library provides wired Ethernet ports in all tables and carrels. Students may borrow network cables by leaving their AUS ID at the IC Help Desk.

The IC Help Desk staff are available at all times for configuration of student laptops. Please approach one of the staff for assistance.

Students who are comfortable configuring their own laptops can review the following instructions for details on enabling laptops on the university wireless network.

All laptops on the university wireless network are able to print to Pharos enabled printers with valid authentication. IC Help Desk staff are available for configuration assistance. Students may also self-install the necessary files for configuration.

Express Terminals

Features:

• Auto login
• Always on
• Refresh restarts when idle for 30 mins
• If turned off, system automatically powers on in less than 15 mins

If you use the express terminal to login with your credentials, pease log out or restart before leaving.
