You can be the next person to get the book in 4 easy steps!

1. Click "Place Hold" button

2. Enter login details

3. Click Submit to log in to your MyLibraryRecord

4. Click Submit to confirm hold request

save your research and remain STABLE, DURABLE, and PERSISTENT!

Stable URLs, persistent and durable links let you copy an article’s URL and paste it into a document or your email for future use.

Tip #13 Advanced Searching

Meta-Search
Use the Advanced search page for expanded searching options such as search type menu, Year Search Limiter to enter a specific date, advanced Boolean searching.

Ebrary 
Advanced Search option presents two search fields that can search the combination of Full-text, Subject, Publisher, Contributor (author).
Narrow your search with additional search fields by clicking the More button. 
Restrict your search by using the drop down menus to select a specific document type, and / or language in which the document is written.

Library Catalog
Search Limiters - Limit your search in the catalog by Language, Material Type, Location and more. 
Phrase Searches - Words enclosed in double quotes will appear together in all results exactly as typed.
Boolean Operators - Use AND or OR to specify multiple words in any field, any order. Use AND NOT to exclude words.

Understanding how to read a results page can help you do your research effectively and efficiently. 

Suggested Topics can lead you to other articles relevant to your topic.
What types of articles are needed?
Note the number of results.
Click on the article title to get more information about the article.  
How long is the article?
Click on Abstract to get an article summary.
Note the options for full–text access.

before starting an essay or assignment. You'll get you a clear outline and understanding of relevant issues and concepts.

Tip #6 Boolean Searching

Improve your research skills by using Boolean operators or phrase searches in the AUS Library Catalog.

Boolean Operators

  • Run an AUTHOR search to determine if the library has books by your favorite writer 
  • Try a KEYWORD search to find  library materials about your research topic
  • Find your call number range and browse the library collection 
  • Search for materials on Reserve by course or Professor name
  • Click TITLE to search by the name of a book or other library materials
