Designed and facilitated by AUS Librarians, the Information Literacy Community of Practice (COP-IL) was formed to help support Department of English faculty in further learning about, exploring, and implementing a range of teaching and assessment strategies in support of information literacy and in meeting the goals of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education – a document

Those involved were taken through a unique and progressive program over the Spring 2023 semester to develop their understanding of information literacy, to reflect on their teaching, to engage in conversation, to share resources, establish learning partnerships and to encourage innovation. At the successful completion of the Community of Practice, graduates gained important skills focused on fostering a continuous approach to information literacy that not only enhances student academic performance, but also equips students for success.

The first cohort of graduates of the Information Literacy Community of Practice has now become part of a wider network supported by librarians helping to embed information literacy throughout the curriculum.

We could not be more proud of our graduates and the job that our librarians did in leading the program.  An invitation for Fall 2024 participation will soon be shared with faculty.
