At the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair, American University of Sharjah signed a licensing agreement with the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA). The signing took place in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, Mohamed Bin Dakhen, President of ERRA, Majd AlShehhi, Director of ERRA, Thomas Hodge, Associate University Librarian for Technology and Technical Services, and other representatives from both AUS and ERRA.
Through this agreement, AUS became one of the first universities in the UAE to adopt a comprehensive reprographic rights licence. The licence permits limited copying for educational use, ensures proper attribution, and safeguards authors’ rights. It strengthens AUS’s commitment to responsible teaching and learning, enhances copyright compliance across campus, and supports fair compensation for authors and publishers.
