Each semester the library recognizes graduating library student assistants who have worked with us tirelessly in providing support to the AUS community.  This semester, we are very pleased to honor 7 graduating and long-serving students.

During their time with us, students have worked at the Library Service Desk, helping library patrons trouble shoot technical issues, collecting materials from the book-drops, checking in and out library materials, completing library rounds, and working on a range of special projects for the library team across various departments including Technical Services.

We asked students to reflect on their time working with us.  Sasha described working in the library as “a very rewarding and enriching experience”.  She commented on the skills that she can now transfer into the workplace and further study:

“I learnt to be confident, worked on my communication, improved my customer service skills, learnt to deal with any challenges and most importantly worked on my time management skills.”

Hadeel commented on the advantages of working in the library as providing “opportunities for professional growth”.  She added:

“This experience has taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and customer service, preparing me for diverse workplaces and adapting to various work environments.”

As is our tradition, graduating students receive a certificate of appreciation, and for those having served 4 or more semesters with us, a book-plate inscribed with their name in a library book of their choice.  Though only a small token, book-plates are a lasting reminder of the contribution each student has made to the AUS Library.
