Library Students Assistants: Graduating Seniors recognized for their Contributions

Article Date
April 18, 2025

Each semester, the library recognizes graduating library student assistants who have worked tirelessly with us to support the AUS community.  We are very pleased to honor 5 graduating and long-serving students this semester.

During their time with us, students have worked at the Library Service Desk, helping library patrons troubleshoot technical issues, collecting materials from the book-drops, checking in and out library materials, completing library rounds, and working on a range of special projects for the library team across various departments, including Marketing and Technical Services.

As is our tradition, graduating students receive a certificate of appreciation, and for those having served four or more semesters with us, a bookplate inscribed with their name in a library book of their choice. Though only a small token, bookplates are a lasting reminder of the contribution each student has made to the AUS Library.

Library Students Assistants Spring 2025

Laiba Sohail (Biology major)
Laiba joined the library team as a student assistant in Spring 2022. In addition to the above-mentioned duties, she made meaningful contributions throughout her time with us. One of her standout moments was co-leading a library tour for the esteemed Board of Trustees in Fall 2023 alongside fellow student assistants. She also conducted a "Getting to Know the Library's Equipment" session, helping patrons become more familiar with using the library equipment. As she steps into the next chapter, we send our warmest wishes for a future filled with success, joy, and personal growth.

Laiba was honored for having worked with us for over 6 semesters. In keeping with our tradition, she selected a book titled The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which now features a bookplate inscribed with her name.

Hana Fathima (Design Management major)
Hana joined the library team as a student assistant in Spring 2023. In addition to the above-mentioned duties, she made notable contributions. Hana also supported Library Marketing projects and events, notably contributing to a promotional video on library services and capturing photos and videos during the Author Talk events. In addition, she spent a semester working in the Technical Services Department, where her commitment and attention to detail were greatly appreciated. As she moves on to new opportunities, we wish her continued success in all her future endeavours.

Hana was honored for having worked with us for over 5 semesters. Following our tradition, she selected the book The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, which now features a bookplate inscribed with her name.

All student assistants listed below received a certificate of appreciation for their service at the AUS Library:

Janna Ayman Aly (Psychology major), Mohammed Shamah (Accounting major), and Muaz Salih (Industrial Engineering major)

The AUS Library would like to thank our 5 graduating student assistants for their outstanding and longstanding service to the AUS Library. We wish them all the best in their future careers!
