Graduate students gathered on Sunday, February 23, 2025, for an intensive day of focused writing at the Thesis/Dissertation Writing Boot Camp held in the Writing Center. The full-day session provided a structured, supportive, and distraction-free space designed to help students make significant progress on their thesis or dissertation projects. The day was designed to help participants overcome writing challenges, break through writer’s block, and develop a productive workflow. Throughout the day, students engaged in extended writing sessions and found motivation in the collective energy of their peers.
A Day of Breakthroughs and Productivity
For many students, the Boot Camp came at just the right time, offering a much-needed push to tackle sections they had been struggling with. Some students arrived feeling stuck on difficult chapters, unsure of how to move forward. However, by the end of the day, they walked away with substantial progress - some completing nearly an entire section that had previously felt overwhelming.
The structured schedule, supportive environment, and encouragement from facilitators helped students stay focused and accountable. Additionally, the Writing Center team - including Director Dr. Maria Eleftheriou and her team of Peer Tutors - provided valuable support, while a motivational talk from Dr. Ji Young Shim of the Department of English offered further guidance and inspiration.
